My goals when I started were to lose weight and get fit alongside my Slimming world Diet, I have now lost 3 Stone and 7lbs, 7% body fat and the staff at Curves have calculated 2 Stone and 5lbs of this to be pure fat! I feel my whole lifestyle has changed for the better. I manage to get to the gym 2/3 times per week; I can pop in without booking an appointment sometimes before work, sometimes after. The half an hour work out and brilliant support from the staff has made it easy to achieve and made me think differently about exercise. I feel my whole lifestyle has changed for the better. I couldn’t ask for more!

On interviewing Fiona Naylor, a Curves member and advocate of eight months, it was quite clear how she has come to thrive on being an active member of the Curves family. She has not only lost over twenty six inches and two stones and 5 pounds to date in weight, of which one stone and ten pounds is pure fat!, but Fiona has gained more energy which she finds a great asset when walking her boisterous Labradors twice a day! She has managed to find the 30 minutes three times a week easy to fit into her hectic schedule and change her life for the better. Curves is very different to conventional gyms offering a facility that is specially designed for women of all ages, featuring a complete 30 minute cardiovascular workout and weight management program to increase muscular strength and tone. Fiona began to achieve results within the first month of joining and this encouraged her to eat more healthily, which complemented her exercise program. Fiona is typical of many women who are slim throughout their twenties and thirties and then find that as the metabolism slows down, the weight slowly creeps up. Fiona was sceptical at first as she didn’t really consider herself in need of exercise, but decided to join on recommendation of a friend in order to improve her overall health. She soon got the fitness bug and is now happier than ever with her new figure and likes to spread the good word, she only wishes that she had discovered the benefits of exercise sooner.

February 11, 2003 is the day that Irene Wanner changed her life. She was overweight at 230 pounds, had bad knees and was using a cane for support. Her doctor told her that she would have to lose some weight and get her blood pressure down before she could perform knee surgery. Her doctor gave her the name of a local diet clinic, but the thought of getting on yet another diet did not appeal to Irene. Then she remembered a friend telling her about Curves. She joined immediately! After three months she was losing weight and her knees began to feel a lot better. She continued to lose weight after she joined the Six Week Solution Class. It has been four years since Irene never did have to have that knee surgery. In fact, she hung up her cane for good!
